New York Mini Guide

New York Mini Guide

Welcome to my next city guide! I take pride in discovering the best things to do in every city I visit, from amazing restaurants and hidden local vintage shops to unique spots you might not find on the typical "Things to Do" lists. These mini guides are always free on my website, but if you’re looking for the full guide with 40+ recommendations per city, I’d love for you to join as a subscriber. Hope you enjoy it!

I've been to New York a few times and feel like I discover new restaurants, things to do, and places to shop EVERY TIME! That's one of the best things about it, you just can't go wrong. Here's some of my favorites from my ever evolving list.

Before getting into the recommendations, I wanted to share a quick tip on how to easily save the spots you want to try on a Google list, so they’re accessible on the map while you’re there. I always use Google Maps for public transportation while traveling and have never had any issues, so I highly recommend this method:

  1. Download Google Maps and log in to your Google account.
  2. Click on the name of each location from the guide, which should open in Google Maps.
  3. Select “Save” on the Google listing, then create a new list with the city’s name.
  4. Add each location to your city list. It's also fun to add a cute little emoji for the list so they pop up different than other pins!

When you’re in the city, you’ll be able to open your custom map and view all the saved locations in relation to where you are and how close they are to each other.

Disclaimer:

I don't include some of the more traditional things to do, because I'm assuming those are already on your list. This adds in fun unique elements that you can hit along the way. I also don't want this list to come across as me being an expert on all the fun things to do, just my recommendations after doing research and visiting some spots. I have never lived in nyc, but if you're visiting I think there will be some spots on here that you LOVE! I really love making these guides and take pride in them.

Restaurants

Bubby's

I love Bubby's, sue me! The breakfast is so good and the film photobooth in the bathroom (sounds crazy I know) is so cute.

Jajaja Mexicana

Vegan mexican restaurant, but don't judge it because it's vegan! Seriously some of the best ever. I tried the burrito and loved it but have also heard that the nachos are amazing!

Thursday Kitchen

The drinks from the capri sun bags are so fun, but the real star of the show here is the steak!

Shops

Obviously this is highly dependent on your style! These are just my favorite stores that I always try to stop into.

Paloma Wool

My favorite store! Investment pieces for sure but worth it IMO

Doen

This area has a ton of fun shops and I always make sure to stop in Doen! Even if I can't afford to buy anything it's so fun to try pieces on IRL

Saturday's NYC

Mostly a mens clothing store but love the vibes and crewnecks

Vintage

I love vintage shopping in new cities! One thing to note about vintage shopping in NYC is that you're going to pay a pretty penny. Everyone there has amazing style and curates the coolest stores but it's for sure more expensive than your everyday goodwill or local vintage shop.

Stella Dallas

Love both of the Stella Dallas stores. Bella hadid also loves these stores and that's a slay. A ton of cool deadstock pieces as well!

Awoke Vintage

These are fun and have a lot of good variety!

The Vintage Twin

Love this shop and this area!

Things To Do

Obviously while you're in New York you should see the empire state building, go to a show on broadway, ride the subway, all the typical things! Here's a few additional ideas that I love doing:

Explore Central Park

You could spend weeks in central park! A picnic at sheep's meadow, ride the boats around the ponds, stop at some of the statues, etc. I couldn't miss this one!

Take a cooking class

There's obviously amazing food in nyc, but this is such a fun activity if you're wanting to do something a little more unconventional. These pasta and pizza making classes are so fun!

Happy Medium

Happy Medium is an art cafe where you can do a variety of art projects like pot painting, friendship bracelets, air dry clay, collages, and more. Such a sweet wholesome place :')

Thank you for checking out my New York guide! I've decided I'm going to switch off every month between international and U.S. cities–so excited to share the next one. Hint: 💂🏼‍♀️
